Crafting a Profile for a Liberal Arts Job

On Wednesday, October 3, we were pleased to host a professional-development event for graduate students across the humanities with Dr. Daniel Hartnett, Associate Professor of Spanish at Kenyon College. His presentation, “Crafting a Profile for a Liberal Arts Job,” explained how students can plan their graduate study to build a diversified profile that can shine through in their application materials and set them on the path to tenure.

Fall 2018 SPAN Major Declaration Workshop (5:00PM in NCH 489)

The Spanish major declaration workshop for the Fall 2018 term will be held on Tuesday, September 18 at 5:00pm in New Cabell Hall 489. Students who want to declare a major should attend and bring a Declaration of Major form, available in the College Registrar’s Office located in Monroe Hall 101.

In order to declare a major in Spanish, a student must have completed SPAN 3010 (Grammar & Composition I) or the equivalent, with a grade of C or better. A C- is insufficient.

Disciplines, Professions, and the Borders of Research: Roundtable for Graduate Students

Please join us on Thursday, October 18, from 12-2 pm in NCH 236 (German Department Conference Room) for a roundtable discussion of "Disciplines, Professions, and the Borders of Research." This is an opportunity for graduate students to share their experiences conducting research in different institutional and national contexts, and to learn from the experiences of researchers who are based in Lima, Peru, and study Andean cultural contact from different disciplinary perspectives, including history, geography, linguistics, and literary studies. Lunch will be served. 

Latin American Digital Humanities: Roundtable in Scholars' Lab

Please join us in Clemmons 407 (note room change!) on Tuesday, Oct. 17, for a multidisciplinary roundtable on digital scholarship in the US and Latin America.

Participants include visiting researchers from the Lima-based project Glosas croniquenses and graduate student members of the Praxis and Digital Humanities programs, sponsored by Scholars' Lab.
