Carrie Bramlet holds an M.A. in Spanish from the University of Florida and a B.A. in Spanish and B.S. in Political Science, with minors in Business and Women’s Studies, from Florida State University. She has lived abroad in Spain and, more recently, spent time in Bolivia.

Carrie has taught Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced Intermediate Spanish as well as an accelerated Spanish review class. She loves teaching UVa’s talented student body and enjoys exploring the beautiful state of Virginia.

Carrie’s intellectual interests have evolved over time, based on the needs of her students and curricular changes over the past 4 years at UVa. Though originally from a literary academic formation, she is increasingly drawn to student motivation and second language acquisition research. Carrie finds great fulfilment in designing assessments and lesson plans that enable students to reflect meaningfully on real-world issues relevant to the Hispanic world, the Spanish language and the learning process itself, as well as to explore cultural identities. She is also a strong advocate of Study Abroad and highly encourages all of her students to explore the world beyond US borders.
