Anne Guarnera is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Spanish department. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 2006 with an A.B. in Comparative Literature and received a Master's degree from UVa in 2012. Her research interests include African diaspora literature from Brazil and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, race and postcolonial theory, and the historical novel. She is also a crypto-lover of Golden Age literature, especially Lope. Before starting graduate school, Anne taught with Teach for America and worked as a public relations executive in Washington, DC. In her spare time, Anne likes to cook, lift weights, watch documentaries and learn new dance styles.
