Dream Week: DREAMers on Grounds

You are invited to celebrate with DREAMers On Grounds as we host our second annual DREAM WEEK
DREAM WEEK officially starts on Monday, March 27th!
Here's a breakdown of all the events we'll be having throughout the week:

MONDAY
March 27: UndocuALLY Training
New Cabell 389-- 6:00 PM- 8:30 PM
UndocuAlly is a learning opportunity/workshop for educators and peers to develop and enhance their working knowledge regarding undocumented student populations at UVa.
DREAMers on Grounds wish to create a more inclusive environment for all undocumented students at UVA through education, advocacy, and allyship. One of the ways we hope to achieve our mission is through “UndocuAlly” training sessions in which we invite faculty, staff and students at UVA to increase their knowledge of issues relating to undocumented students in Virginia.
Now, more than ever, DREAMers and undocumented communities need allies. Discover better ways to become an ally and learn more about your fellow peers.
Thank you to University Democrats for co-sponsoring this month’s training!

TUESDAY
March 28: "Undocumented at Home" Photo Exhibit
1515 on the Corner: Back Room-- 6:00 PM -7:30 PM
Can you imagine how it would be to live in a place that you consider home and not be accepted, feel marginalized and like you don’t belong? In this art exhibition you will learn about the experience of being Palestinian in the state of Israel and being undocumented in the United States through pictures. Enjoy great photographs that will take you to places and through emotions of people whose voices are not always heard of.
Thank you to our co-sponsors, Justice for Palestine and the Gamma Alpha Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha!

WEDNESDAY
March 29: "Know Your Rights Presentation with Sin Barreras"
Common Grounds -- 6:00 PM -8:00 PM
Join directly affected community members, allies, organizers and lawyers as we gather to discuss how to prepare and defend immigrant communities.
Sign up HERE!
Thank you to the Legal Aid Justice Center!

THURSDAY
March 30: “We Gon Be Alright” Open Mic
Wilson 301 -- 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Join us for a night of expression and unhinged optimism as artists share their poetry and spoken word. The theme for the night’s open mic is “We Gon Be Alright”. As an organization, DREAMers on Grounds has faced numerous obstacles since its inception. These obstacles are minuscule compared to the obstacles faced by undocumented people - past and present. It is in the face of these obstacles, in the face of administrative opposition on federal and local levels, that we gather to participate in radical optimism. There are challenges we have overcome, and many we have yet to. But in this open mic night we wish to engage in a radical optimism.
SIGN UP HERE TO PERFORM!

FRIDAY
March 31 - SUNDAY, April 2 -- IDEAs Conference at Virginia Tech
